When it comes to popular times of the year for weddings, one season stands out above the rest: fall. Every year, couples across Georgia, Tennessee, and beyond choose autumn for their big day & it’s not hard to see why. From the vibrant colors of the changing leaves to the cooler air, I’m diving into some of the reasons behind why fall is the most popular time of the year for weddings in the southeast.
Perfect Weather for Celebrations
While I truly do love every season in the southeast for different reasons, some of them can be a bit unpredictable. Spring tends to come with a lot of unpredictable rain, Summers can be hot and humid & winters are cold. Fall strikes the balance—comfortable temperatures, crisp air, and just the right mix of sunshine and color. Couples and guests alike appreciate being able to celebrate outdoors without the extremes of summer heat or winter chill.

Unreal Fall Foliage
Few things compare to the beauty of fall foliage in the Southeast. The vibrant reds, oranges, and golds transform Tennessee mountainsides, North Georgia forests & vineyards, and other outdoor venues into natural works of art. Not only do you get to get married surrounded by scenery that looks like it’s out of a storybook, but these colors also photograph beautifully.

Seasonal Details
Autumn weddings often embrace rich colors, cozy textures, and other beautiful seasonal details. Think jewel-toned florals, candlelit receptions, velvet accents, and tasteful harvest decor. These choices not only reflect the season but also photograph with incredible depth and warmth.

It makes perfect sense why fall has become the most sought-after wedding season in the Southeast. The combination of perfect weather, fall foliage and cozy seasonal details make it such a good season for a wedding. The only downside, is that venues & wedding vendors book up extremely quickly during this time of year, sometimes more than a year in advance. Couples planning a fall wedding should start early to secure their dream team of vendors.
