There’s something incredibly special about finding a wedding venue that feels unique to you—one that isn’t all over your Instagram feed because everyone you know has gotten married there. Whether it’s tucked in the Tennessee hills or just across state lines, I want to share some hidden gem venues that offer something many couples are searching for: character, privacy, and that “undiscovered” magic. So if you’re on the hunt for a venue that’s off the beaten path but full of charm, here are a few hidden gems to keep on your radar—both in Tennessee and a little beyond.
RT Lodge | Maryville, Tennessee
Tucked into the quiet woods of East Tennessee, RT Lodge feels like a secret forest retreat. With ivy-covered walls, cozy lodges, and towering trees overhead, it has a peaceful, intimate energy that’s perfect for couples who want a refined yet down-to-earth experience. It offers multiple ceremony locations, on-site lodging, and the kind of setting that feels like you’ve escaped to your own private world.
Best for: Romantic fall weddings, intimate gatherings, and nature-loving couples who want a polished aesthetic without the crowds.

The Cordelle | Nashville, Tennessee
While Nashville is full of high-profile venues, The Cordelle flies just slightly under the radar and that’s part of its charm. Located just a few blocks from downtown, it blends historic Southern architecture with modern, minimalist design. It’s a favorite among couples who want a space that feels both classic and current, without being overdone.
Best for: Editorial-style weddings, downtown elopements, and couples who love clean design with character.

Oakleaf Cottage | Trenton, Georgia
Nestled along the side of Lookout Mountain, Oakleaf Cottage is a secluded, thoughtfully styled venue that feels worlds away, while still being just 20 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. This venue blends clean, modern aesthetics with cozy woodland charm, featuring a story-book white cottage, scenic forest ceremony spots, and a reception space surrounded by towering trees. It’s peaceful, private, and filled with personal touches that make every wedding feel one-of-a-kind.
Best for: Couples who value intentional design, a quiet forest setting, and a venue that feels like a hidden mountain escape just outside the city.

The Greystone Inn | Lake Toxaway, North Carolina
Okay, this one’s a little farther out, but it’s too good not to include. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Greystone Inn overlooks a quiet lake and offers the kind of elegance that feels effortless. The views, the historic architecture, the cozy lodge vibes—it’s a dream for destination weddings without hopping on a plane.
Best for: Destination weekends, mountain lovers, and couples who want lakeside serenity wrapped in timeless charm.

Lake Rabun Hotel | Lakemont, Georgia
This one is also a little far from Tennessee, but worth it if you’re looking for a true hidden gem. Lake Rabun offers a serene lakeside escape with several beautiful venues, all owned by the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant.
The Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant itself is a historic lodge, originally built in the 1920s, with charming on‑site lodging and indoor/outdoor locations that are perfect for a cozy & quaint wedding weekend. In addition, there’s the Lake Rabun Pavillion, an open-air pavilion that features a gorgeous stone fireplace and beautiful views of the lake. Lastly, their Forest Lodge Wedding & Retreat Center, a timber‑built mountain lodge set within a private forest, can accommodate more guests without sacrificing the intimate, mountain feel.
Best for: Laid-back lakeside weddings, intimate weekend gatherings & cozy mountain charm.

Airbnb’s & Private Estates
This final category is a little bit more broad, but I couldn’t leave it out. For couples who want a truly one-of-a-kind setting, Airbnbs and private estates are becoming more and more popular. These spaces often feel more personal, offer more privacy, and allow you to host your wedding weekend all in one location instead of having to rent multiple venues for your rehearsal dinner, wedding day, farewell brunch, etc.
I should mention that if you decide to go this route, it can involve more work & planning. You’ll likely need to coordinate having rentals delivered the weekend of—things like tables and chairs, glassware, plateware, etc., since those items won’t be included in the house rental. I also recommend checking the vacation rental properties’ rules and restrictions to ensure that events are allowed at that particular property.
Best for: Intimate weddings, full wedding weekends, destination weddings, and couples who want their wedding space to feel like home—just with a better view.

Why Choose a Less-Popular Venue?
Hidden gem venues often come with perks you might not find at more mainstream spots:
- More flexibility with dates and timelines
- A stronger sense of privacy and intimacy
- Unique scenery that isn’t overused & all over your social media
- A personal, meaningful connection to the space
